Ragging is a criminal offence. The Government of West Bengal has banned such activities throughout the State, and its punishment includes dismissal from the institution, imprisonment, fines and cancellation of admission. Being the top pharmacy college in West Bengal, BCPSR has also issued instructions to ban ragging colleges and hostel premises.
All students are advised to understand the severe nature of this problem and extend their full cooperation to the authorities against this evil.
Measures to be taken by the Institution against Ragging
The Institution shall have a cell to deal with all aspects of ragging in the premises and hostel(s) of the Institution. The enclosure should comprise at least two academic staff members and may include one or two students, preferably from junior classes. A member of Non-Teaching staff may be designated as its convenor.
Anti-ragging cells at BCPSR can take immediate steps to implement anti-ragging measures prescribed in these regulations.
Punishment at Institutional Level
As informed in the above section, BCPSR has an anti-ragging cell that ensures no student is involved in such activities. To make sure everything is fine, the cell membersmeet regularly, at least once a month, and keep themselves informed of all allegations/cases of ragging that are reported either to it or to any other agency/authority in this connection.
It shall also keep itself informed of any case instituted against any student/students in any police station or before any court arising out of an incident of ragging.
- Warning by Institution
- Debarring from representing College in any event (Sports/ Cultural/ Academic)
- Withholding/ Withdrawing Scholarship or Fellowship and other benefits.
- Cancellation of Admission
- Rustication from Institution for 1 – 4 semesters
- Expulsion from Institution / Hostel Banning Entry into Campus & Hostel for 2 – 4 years
